Serie A 09/10: Inter maintain at top and round-up

Inter Milan have maintained their two-point lead in the Serie A table ahead of Sampdoria after beating Catania.

Samp moved to the top of the table earlier on Saturday after beating Bologna, but the champions responded in fine fashion.

Sully Muntari opened the scoring for Jose Mourinho’s side with 13 minutes played with Wesley Sneijder doubling their advantage soon after.

Catania set up a grandstand finish late on when Giuseppe Mascara slotted home from the penalty spot after Julio Cesar brought down Gianvito Plasmati.

However, Inter held on for their seventh league win of the season to maintain their two-point gap at the top of the table.

Earlier in the day high-flying Sampdoria turned up the heat on Inter with a resounding 4-1 win over lowly 10-man Bologna.
